Are you a newly engaged bride or are you a bride with still a few things to take care of on the "To do list". Planning a destination wedding is a little different than planning one in your home location. It is exciting, and romantic to have your entire wedding in a location by the Ocean. All of your guests will be making plans to join you when you celebrate your day.
I am going to give you a few pointers to remember during the process. I know that the first thing you will be doing is to secure the venue. On the Outer Banks we have a wide array of event homes to choose from, 2 event spaces that you can rent and have your choice of vendors, 4 larger event sites that you must use their in house people, and a few restaurants that will take your party and close the restaurant down for your event. When making your decision, plan your budget before securing the venue. Many times I have seen brides spend a huge chunk of the budget on the venue and then have to pinch pennies to secure the food. It is all about balance. If you want to get married on the Ocean, but the homes are a little out of your budget, consider this, the sound side homes are about 1/2 the cost, the sunset is over the sound not the ocean, and the Ocean is less than 1/4 mile from the sound. So...... you can have your wedding either on the Ocean or the sound and get your pictures done either place, have your reception at the house on the sound and be able to have great food for the reception.
In my next Blog I will post about choosing your vendors. Have a Happy Holiday and get ready for a great New Year!
